On Friday 9th August FEL’s Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) were delighted to greet six NEXT apprentices that are all on the Level 4 standard for Product Technology. This was an action-packed, hands-on day that covered various areas of garment production as demonstrated in a live factory environment.
The FEL team are so proud of their achievements on the apprenticeship programme. Starting in 2010 with CONEL, The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, and since FEL has grown the provision to include a wide cross-section of standards from Level 2 through to Level 5.
FEL did a trial with two apprentices from NEXT in 2022 to 2024, and both apprentices, Jody and Marcus, excelled and got distinctions in their Level 4.
The FTA team are pleased to welcome the new apprentices who were very receptive to learning with regards to machines, operational use of machines, understanding construction of garments, and also having a go with making their own T-shirts!
FEL is the only company that can offer this training in the UK with its ethically approved factory for both Fast Forward and SMETA, to combine education and practical skills within a live working environment.
Well done to all the participants, the FTA team look forward to seeing them again in six weeks time.
