Factory Tours

Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL), a social enterprise, understands the need for total transparency within the supply chain – FEL is the only factory in the UK today with a leading status in the Fast Forward audit and members to the AGM PPP.

Over the last 20 years FEL has given students at HE, FE and secondary schools a unique and invaluable insight into the world of fashion and garment production

FEL has two SMETA and Fast Forward approved factories in London and Wales, producing up to 40,000 units a week.

The educational factory site visit is a two-hour tour for up to a maximum of 20 students, tailor-made to suit their studies and level of education.

Topics include:
  • The manufacturing process of a garment – from initial idea right through to delivery – The Garment Life Cycle.
  • Sustainable On-Demand textile production with Kornit Digital.
  • The supply chain and challenges a supplier faces – a unique perspective from both buying and supply.
  • Critical path.
  • What makes The Factory SMETA approved – why we are a fully compliant factory. Explanation of the Modern Slavery Act.
  • Tour of the Factory – review of the cutting table, industrial machines flat bed and over-locker, quality control stations.
  • How long does it really take to make a garment?
  • How is a garment costed?
  • Tour of the Fashion Studio – patterns, grading, toiles, sampling and small production runs.

How it works

Each tour is two hours in total with a maximum of 20 students and two tutors. The tours take place at the London factory based in Haringey anincludes a tour of the Factory for bulk production, the Fashion Studio for sampling and short production run, the Fashion Technology Academy for skills training and a demonstration of Kornit Digital printer.
There is flexibility with dates and times so we will work with you to find a suitable date.
