Threads of Elegance: Introduction to Industrial Sewing & Garment Construction Commences at FTA Islington

Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL), through its Fashion Technology Academy (FTA), is collaborating with Westminster City Archives on the innovative project “Threads of Elegance: Conserving the Legacy of Beale & Inman Tailors.” This two-year community initiative includes a six-week tailoring and garment construction course specifically designed for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Lan Leeder said: “The course, titled ‘Introduction to Industrial Sewing & Garment Construction,’ began on Friday 19th September 2025. The participants had a wonderful time during the first session, where they learned how to thread and operate sewing machines while getting to know each other and the tutors. The students were engaged and enthusiastic about the programme, and we look forward to seeing their final creations by the end of week 6.”

The FTA will add further updates on this project over the coming weeks while respecting the privacy of the participants. As an aside, it was amazing to see one participant wearing a Hope-FX t-shirt, this particular design is by James from the first Hope-FX cohort!
