On 28th July Production Director Caroline Ash and Senior Pattern Cutter Claire Solley delivered an online masterclass on the Sampling Process.
Aimed at both new business start ups and established brands the session explained what to expect when looking for a garment manufacturer and the process of working with the Fashion Studio for sampling and production.
As a new brand it can be a very dauting task finding the right factory and then communicating with them. It is important to know what questions to ask and what to look for when visiting a new manufacturer and Caroline gave her invaluable knowledge on exactly how to do this.
Caroline talked through what you should do before visiting a factory, how to prepare in terms of sourcing fabrics and trims ensuring continuity on all components, to work out a realistic launch date and then work backwards to create a critical path, be prepared to discuss repeat orders and much more.
Claire then talked through what to expect when working with the Fashion Studio and the different services we provide from patterns to sampling, grading, production and delivery.
The tech pack was discussed in detail, as well as the importance of fit, what a size measurement chart looks like, a test report and a confidentiality agreement.
The masterclass was really well received with lots of great questions at the end
This session was free for our FashionCapital members, learners and apprentices and all Islington residents.
