Course Description:

This course is a unique opportunity to learn professional skills from a highly experienced tailor in a friendly and focused environment. You will be guided by Francesco, a master tailor from Savile Row, who will share his extensive technical knowledge and tips and tricks acquired over decades of work.

The Trouser Making course is a 12-week programme that teaches the fundamentals of drafting a pair of trousers using traditional bespoke tailoring methods. The course will cover the following topics: how to take body measurements, how to draft a trouser block and pattern, how to hand-stitch the trousers, how to lay and cut patterns on the fabric, and how to alter the trousers to improve the fit and design.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Measurement taking

  • Constructing a side pocket

  • Mark the fabric and cut out the trousers

You will be guided by Francesco, a master tailor from Savile Row, who will share his extensive technical knowledge and tips and tricks acquired over decades of work.

The waistcoat-making course is a 10-week course that teaches the foundation of drafting a waistcoat using traditional methods in bespoke tailoring. The course will cover the following topics: how to take body measurements, how to draft a waistcoat block and pattern, how to stitch the waistcoat by hand, how to lay and cut the pattern on the fabric, and how to alter the waistcoat to improve the fit and design.

  • Constructing a waistcoat with canvas, horsehair, and domette
  • Constructing a welt pocket

Coat/Jacket Making

Course Description:

This course provides a unique opportunity to acquire professional tailoring skills in a welcoming and focused setting. You will gain knowledge of the materials, processes, construction, and handling techniques essential to becoming a successful bespoke tailor. The course is mentored by Francesco, a master tailor from Savile Row who has decades of experience. He will share his extensive technical knowledge and practical tips and tricks that he has learned over the years in the industry.

The Coat/Jacket course is a 22-week programme held every Wednesday. It is designed to teach traditional methods in bespoke tailoring, with a focus on drafting a coat or jacket. Over the duration of the course, you will learn how to take body measurements, draft a coat/jacket block and pattern, stitch, lay, and cut the pattern on the fabric, and alter the coat/jacket to improve its fit and design. The garment’s inner workings are meticulously hand-sewn, and shrinking and stretching techniques are used. While elements like pockets and straight seams are still sewn by machine, all the preparation and finishing work is done by hand.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Measurement taking
  • Drafting a coat/jacket pattern
  • Mark fabrics, match patterns as appropriate, and cut out jacket/coat
  • Line the jacket/coat with canvas, horsehair, and domette
  • Pocket construction
  • Sew the jacket/coat to the fitting stage and refit the garment

Bespoke Pattern Making

Course Description:

The pattern-making course is a 14-week programme held every Wednesday at the FC Designer Workspace. It aims to teach traditional bespoke patternmaking techniques in tailoring, specifically focusing on trousers, waistcoats, and coats or jackets.

Throughout the course, you will learn how to accurately take body measurements, draft patterns for trousers, waistcoats, and coats or jackets, and modify the patterns to fit your size. You’ll also gain skills in adding details such as a fly front, lapels, and single or double-breasted fronts. 

The course is taught by Francesco, a bespoke tailor from Savile Row who has decades of experience. He will share his extensive technical knowledge and practical tips and tricks that he has learned over the years in the industry.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Measurement taking
  • Drafting a bespoke trouser, waistcoat, coat or jacket block to your size
  • Modifying the block with styling details 
  • Learn how to draft different types of jackets and trousers (i.e. formal and casual)
  • Learn how to draft different types of waistcoats (with lapels, single- or double-breasted) 
  • Fit amendments to your block and pattern
