On 16th April, Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) welcomed 10 Selfridges employees to their Haringey HQ for an informative CPPD workshop and tour. Led by FEL Director Caroline Ash, these sessions provide firsthand insight into the garment life cycle, along with core topics such as; compliance and ethics, use of AI, buying and sourcing, workers’ rights and labour exploitation, repairs and repurposing and more.
Caroline commented: “This week, we hosted Selfridges for a fantastic seminar that brought together a diverse range of roles, including Buying, Sourcing, Circularity, Concepts, and Environmental Management.
“The attendees showed great interest in the garment lifecycle and thoroughly enjoyed the factory tour. They were particularly captivated by our AI system, Style3D, and were the first clients to see our new Knitwear Rapid Swatch & Development. Overall, the event was a resounding success, with participants expressing that they gained invaluable insights.”
Feedback from the group included:
“I learnt about the real challenges of clothes / garment production. I had never visited a factory before. Loved the entire visit and it was so insightful to learn the truths behind the journey of the product.”
“Caroline is a font of knowledge!”
“I learnt so much new knowledge about the lifecycle of products, particularly around how garments are made and where the biggest issues with waste arise. I also loved hearing more about the skills of the factory – incredible talents. Thank you so much Caroline – loved the energy and enthusiasm.”
“I learnt so much! Brilliant speaker and tour. I asked lots of questions, it was great to be up close with the garment making process.”
“10 out of 10. I found out about the workings of a factory and what goes into making a garment, sustainable alternatives and examples of what brands are doing.”
“I learnt from stitch to shelf processes and also ethical practices with real life examples.”
