The Skills and Education Group (SEG) has won the ‘Collaboration of the Year Award’ at the FAB 2022 Awards hosted by the Federation of Awarding Bodies.
The Group received the award for its work to prevent labour exploitation in collaboration with the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) and various other agencies including Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL).
The SEG Level 1 Award in Workers Rights and Labour Exploitation is available at all four FTA campuses and during the past academic year FCFTA Leicester has taught and passed 108 individuals on this particular course.
Jenny Holloway CEO of Fashion-Enter Ltd / FTA said: “We trialed this qualification three-years ago with our learners that did not have English as a first language. We were shocked how many had been exploited – working for months without pay or given just cash handouts that were no where near the minimum wage. We were the first to trial the qualification too and in Leicester we have delivered over 100 Worker’s Rights qualifications in just six months.
“We are delighted that the qualification has been recognised and SEG has won the Collaboration of the Year Award. This shows collaborative work at its finest. Frank Hanson from the GLAA needs a special mention too – absolutely outstanding.”
