On 18th August Leyla hosted the last in a three-part series of sewing masterclasses at the FC Designer Collective shop.
Many of the participants attended all three sessions and gained so much from Leyla’s extensive experience. The final masterclass focused on basic repair techniques and alterations. An excellent skill to have to upcycle and repair your own wardrobe!
Feedback from the Islington residents included:
‘I have learnt how to do a fitting for someone else, use an industrial sewing machine and basic tailoring tips and tricks. Great learning environment and facilities and teacher’ Jovina
‘How to fit and alter, how to cut and measure, overlock pull through, overlock hem, hemming by hand, how to line a scarf with material. Leyla is amazing and we learnt so much about adjusting, cutting fine and delicate fabric, alterations from her vast experience. You learn something every minute you watch and listen. Thank you so much’ Annie
‘Lots of good tips on measuring for alterations and fittings. Lovely space and people. Highly recommend!’ Marina
