Are you a garment technician, pattern cutter, setting up your own fashion label or simply making clothes as a hobby? When producing a collection one of the key elements is to ensure accurate fit across all sizes. This was even highlighted in the most recent FC Fashion Meetup by Buying Director, Jigsaw, Shailina Parti who stressed that the creation of the perfect fit was one of the four focal points when creating a brand.
Grading is a highly technical skill that allows you to produce multiple sized patterns for any basic block whilst retaining the style and fit. To understand the terminology and processes involved is highly beneficial, whether you are a designer communicating with your manufacturer or a garment technician needing to understand the implications of your fit comments.
