On Monday 28th April, four apprentices from NEXT visited Fashion-Enter Ltd’s Fashion Hub in Leicester. They participated in a thread seminar led by Ian Hagan, Global Head of Business Development, and Philip Smith, Global Technical Director at COATS Threads.

It was a very informative session on threads, including how they are made, the types of threads available, costing, thread consumption, and new innovations for sustainability.

The following was covered during the 90-minute seminar:
- Who are Coats
- Dive into the three main substrates of sewing threads
- Sustainability journey
- Designing for circularity
- Commercialisation and reasons to use Coats
- Colour / Colour management
- Importance of the relationship between fabric, thread and needle
