On Friday 2 August 2019 the Factory played host to a group of people at various stages of their development to provide insight into what is means to be a designer in the fashion industry. The group of 10 were welcomed by Fashion Enter’s CEO – Jenny Holloway, who shared with them her wealth of expertise and experience on what it takes to get started in such a fiercely competitive industry and to do it ethically, which is at the heart of our core competencies and what we believe makes us stand apart from others.
The keen group of visitors asked lots of questions and in return gained invaluable knowledge on what it really takes to be successful, what to look out for when sourcing materials, and the actual processes of garment production from idea to finished product.
Production Director, Caroline Ash, then took the group on a tour of the Factory explaining how the different machines are used by our skilled machinists at each stage of the production process. The group then headed over to our Fashion Studio where they were greeted by our Studio Assistant, Amiyah Gyemi-James who talked through the lifecycle of bespoke, one-off pieces to the production of up to 300 units. The group were then invited to ask any further questions.
Feedback included: “Extremely in-depth discussions about the Factory and production. It was extremely interesting to learn about producing and selling goods. All my questions about garment production were answered well. Thank you.” – LC
