The Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) is continuing to support employers and apprentices across the fashion and textiles industry, with two new apprenticeship starts in Leicester marking the latest step in its growing programme of industry-led training.
FTA Leicester has welcomed Mohammed, who has recently started his Level 4 Fashion & Textiles Product Technologist Standard Apprenticeship with The T-Shirt Factory. The apprenticeship provides Mohammed with the opportunity to develop his technical knowledge and practical skills while gaining valuable experience within a working industry environment.
As part of the initial onboarding process, FTA’s Jenny met Mohammed on site alongside his HR Manager, Khoush, to work through the key elements of his apprenticeship programme. This included the Skills Scan, Initial Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), Individual Learning Plan (ILP), on- and off-the-job training hours, the complaints procedure and how progress reviews will be conducted throughout the programme.

Jenny also highlighted the importance of FTA’s “Achieve, Belong and Thrive” approach — ensuring apprentices are supported not only to develop the skills and knowledge required for their role, but also to feel part of the industry and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“I met Mohammed yesterday on site and with his HR Manager Khoush, we went through in depth all the paperwork including Skills Scan, Initial IAG, ILP, on and off training hours, complaints procedure, how progress reviews are conducted and really discussed the importance of achieve, belong and thrive. A huge welcome to both the apprentice and employer, really looking forward to the next 22 months of practical GLH.”
Mohammed’s apprenticeship will run for the next 22 months, combining practical industry experience with structured learning and development.

Also starting her apprenticeship journey with FTA Leicester is Eloise, who has been recruited by Evac+Chair International Ltd to undertake the Level 2 Sewing Machinist Standard Apprenticeship.
Her apprenticeship will provide the opportunity to develop practical sewing and manufacturing skills within a real workplace, while working towards an industry-recognised qualification and building a strong foundation for a career within fashion and textiles manufacturing.
These latest appointments demonstrate the continued demand from employers for skilled people entering and progressing within the sector and the important role apprenticeships play in developing the workforce of the future.
FTA Leicester’s apprenticeship activity is continuing to grow. The FTA is currently working with three additional SMEs that are looking to recruit a further 15 apprentices in the near future. More information about these exciting opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks.
With strong relationships between employers, apprentices and training providers, FTA is helping businesses develop the specialist skills they need while creating meaningful career pathways for the next generation of fashion and textiles professionals.
Welcome to Mohammed and Eloise we look forward to following their apprenticeship journeys and celebrating their achievements along the way.
