#NAW2025: NEXT Apprentices Gain Skills For Life

This week (10th – 16th February 2025) National Apprenticeship Week celebrates and highlights the opportunities, skills and benefits that apprenticeships can bring to individuals and employers.

This year’s theme is ‘Skills For Life’ and as an apprenticeship provider for the fashion and textile industry – Fashion-Enter Ltd and its FTA educational department is dedicated to providing enriching apprenticeship programmes.

As part of our recognised apprenticeship training FEL’s Fashion Technology Academy team always go above and beyond the contract.

We are currently training six assistant garment technologist apprentices with UK retailer NEXT on the Level 4 Product Standard with awarding body – Skills & Education Group.

As part of our enrichment programme we are taking the six apprentices to insider events and have arranged two guest speakers:

Ian Hagan, Coat PLC Global Head of Business Development and Simon Platts, Co-Founder & Board Advisor Recomme.co (Repurpose lead) alongside our industry experienced team.

The group will learn about Quality and Assurance Procedures as well as Supply Chain and Customer Base, and will gain firsthand industry insight into FEL’s factory with a tour and practical tasks at the Haringey site.

FEL CEO Jenny Holloway said: “You cannot teach the world of garment technology in a silo. Whilst we will cover all the KBS required there needs to be a holistic approach to training, and that means bringing all the learning together so there is deep understanding and embedded knowledge.

“We are delighted with the progress of each apprentice in this group, and as the previous NEXT apprentices gained distinction’s it’s important that we continue to deliver the same high standards.”
