‘Meet the Professionals’ Session for Year 12 students at St Aloysius College

On Wednesday, 11th February, Lan Leeder, Head of Education at Fashion-Enter Ltd / FTA, participated in a ‘Meet the Professionals’ session for Year 12 students at St Aloysius College.

The aim is to prepare young people for the world of work. Students today often prefer texting and messaging over face-to-face conversations; therefore, meeting new people and answering questions about them is a valuable exercise for young people.

Aim of the session:

– Each student will have prepared their own CV.

– Students will be paired with a guest.

– Guests will receive a copy of the student’s CV.

– The guest will review the CV, provide suggestions, and pose questions regarding the student’s experiences and interests.

– Students will also be encouraged to ask the guests questions about their careers and professional journeys.

It was a great exercise for all. Employers were able to critique and provide feedback on the students’ CVs. The session also facilitated a discussion in which students asked employers about their profession.

Lan Leeder said, “The students demonstrated a high level of professionalism and were well-prepared for the session. They asked a range of questions along with a well-crafted CV. They engaged with the employers, maintained eye contact, spoke clearly, and asked great questions. I am impressed by their professionalism and strong work ethic.”
