Leicester Adult Education Formally Assesses FEL’s Skills Bootcamp Programme

On 26th November 2024, observer Kerry Gray from Leicester Adult Education, observed and assessed a Skills Bootcamp in Sewing and Repairs session.

FTA / Fashion Hub is proud to be the first provider to deliver a Skills Bootcamp in fashion and textiles. This programme not only helps individuals gain valuable skills and qualifications in fashion and textiles but also guarantees job interviews—and potential employment—within the fashion industry for successful candidates.

As of November, we had 11 learners enrolled in this course. Additionally, 3 employers with 4 job vacancies were ready to interview and potentially hire these learners.

As part of the programme’s quality standards the Fashion Hub undergoes thorough audits to ensure targets are being met. Tutors, Manuela Tavares and Jo Bean, both participated in the teaching observations led by Kerry Gray, the Head of Leicester Adult Education.

We’re delighted to report that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the excellent quality of their teaching, lesson planning, and course materials.

The report stated: ‘ Excellent employer engagement and development of a bespoke programme of learning.

‘The two tutors operated very effectively together to stimulate discussion and ensure that all the topics were discussed in a natural way.

‘Learners are making excellent progress and are enthusiastic about the opportunities open to them as a result of participation in the Bootcamp.’

We are pleased to share that we have been awarded £131,000 in funding from Leicester City Council through the Skills Bootcamp programme. These Skills Bootcamps are intensive, flexible training initiatives aimed at providing individuals with in-demand skills for specific industries. Typically lasting up to 16 weeks, these government-supported programmes are part of the UK Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, empowering people to acquire new skills and advance in their careers.
