Latest From Leicester 27th May 2025: The Fashion Hub Out in the Community

Throughout May the Leicester branch of the FCFTA: Fashion Hub, was out in the local community promoting their courses, workshops and facilities…

01/05/2025 The Fashion Hub attended the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre Coffee Morning to promote their courses and workshops. This was organised by Leicester Police in collaboration with Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre and Zynthia Trust. Puja and Sanna from the Fashion Hub attended and these Coffee Mornings provide a fantastic opportunity for the general public to find out about the support services and facilities available to them. Many amazing agencies attend these events along with FTA Fashion Hub staff.

The team noticed that many of the attendees are from the Belgrave area of Leicester and are often ex-employees of the garment industry who were made redundant. As a result, they’ve lost confidence in getting back to work. Puja and Sanna were able to explain about the Skills Bootcamp programme and industry opportunities and have started to enrol for the new cohort starting on 2nd June.

01/05/2025 Severn Trent hosted Big Boost for Leicester Job Fair. Hosted for first-time in Leicester, Severn Trent’s successful Big Boost events – across the Midlands including Derby, Coventry and Birmingham, have welcomed thousands of job seekers or people looking for support that has resulted in jobs, training, or a supportive boost in confidence when it comes to CV or interview skills.

20 local employers along with educational academies took part in this job fair and more than 700 people registered and attended the event. The Fashion Hub had a stall promoting their Skills Bootcamp course, a training programme that upskills participants ready for the workplace. Basic Premier factory is looking to employ 20 machinists, and the Fashion Hub will support with the training of potential employees through the Skills Bootcamp initiative.

23/05/2025 Mellor Primary School held a Cancer Research Race Day where parents came to watch and support their kids. Zynthia Trust with Leicester Police organised an informative stall for the parents to gain some advice whilst there and the Fashion Hub was invited to take part. Divya spoke to parents about the Level 1 courses at the Fashion Hub and the flexible course times that fit in with childcare commitments. She explained how the Level 1 is not only about achieving a qualification but also helps individuals gain confidence, make new friends, socialise, supports home sewing projects, and is brilliant for positive mental health. The next Level 1 course will be starting 2nd June and the stall provided a new way to advertise the course.
