This weekend marks the start of Graduate Fashion Week 2019 and the FTA / Fashion Enter CEO Jenny Holloway will be there with her workshop: What does a UK Ethical Factory look like?’
Graduate Fashion Week is the largest showcase of BA fashion in the world with over 95 of the most influential and inspiring UK and international universities and colleges on show. While the event hosts back-to-back catwalk shows the exhibition halls showcase the latest graduate talent across 26 fashion disciplines, including fashion marketing, photography, communication and of course, design. This is combined with a packed schedule of talks, masterclasses and workshops from leading professionals in the industry.
This year the ‘Considered Design Hub’ sponsored by Farfetch will be hosting a full agenda of daily talks and workshops. Jenny’s interactive workshop on ‘What does a UK Ethical Factory look like?’ will take place on Tuesday 4th June at 3pm. Jenny will provide a step-by-step guide to review the good side and the dark side of garment manufacturing today with an explanation of the Gangmasters Labour Abuse Authorities workings.
The final day will culminate in an awards ceremony where graduates gain recognition, funding and in some cases work placements and scholarships. Attracting a wide array of professionals, press and recruiters from the industry, the Graduation Fashion Foundation is proud to be a platform that makes those essential connections to ensure graduates fulfil their career goals. In recent years GFW alumni have found exciting careers in internationally renowned brands such as; Chanel, French Connection, Dior, Gap, ASOS.com and Marc Jacobs, as well as many of the national and international brands which support the charity with sponsorship each year.
“Graduate Fashion Week is an invaluable platform for all fashion graduates. We work in an incredibly competitive industry and the hardest part can be ensuring your work is seen by the right people. Graduate Fashion Week is the platform that connects students with industry leaders and large companies, giving graduates the best possible start.” – Henry Holland, Designer and GFF Ambassador
