FTA Teachers Attend 2-Day Mental Health First-Aider Training

On Thursday, 18th June 2026, Fashion Technology Academy stitching teacher Gintare Zeciene and pattern teacher Manuela Tavares attended a 2-day mental health first-aider training at Minds in Haringey. The course focuses on recognising the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues and responding in a supportive and appropriate manner. In addition to providing an in-depth understanding of mental health and well-being, the training offers practical skills that give participants the confidence to step in, reassure, and support a person when required.

Gintare said, “I feel more confident in understanding mental health. I feel more confident in what to say in certain situations, how to help and whom to contact. I understand how to guide and support learners with mental health issues. The training was very insightful, engaging and interactive. It was an engaging training session with plenty of Q&A and active participation.”

Manuela said: “As a tutor, I want every learner to feel supported, valued and able to achieve their full potential. Completing the Mental Health First Aider course has strengthened my ability to recognise when someone may need support and respond with confidence and care.”
