FTA Leicester Works With Breast Cancer Now On A Series of Practical Workshops

The FTA Leicester campus is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a community engagement grant from Breast Cancer Now to deliver a new programme combining practical bra making skills with breast health awareness.

The grant will support four workshops, due to begin in September at the FTA’s Leicester premises on King Street. The sessions will focus on practical bra design and construction, providing an engaging and creative way to open up conversations around breast health and breast cancer awareness.

Linsey from Breast Cancer Now’s Train the Trainer team said: “Breast Cancer Now’s Train the Trainer team are delighted to be able to support and fund this innovative community initiative being hosted by Fashion-Enter Ltd. Delivering bra-making workshops is a creative, unique and memorable way to open up informal conversations about breast health and awareness within the local community, and encourage more people to be confident in spotting the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.”

Divya Kamath, FEL / FTA Leicester Operational Manager, added: “I have always strongly supported the Breast Cancers Campaigns. Around 59,400 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year. This total includes about 59,000 women and 400 men, meaning roughly 160 people receive a diagnosis each day. About 1 in 7 women in the UK will develop the disease in their lifetime and this why it’s so important for Fashion-Enter to be involved in this three month program; raising the awareness to as many people as possible in Leicester. We are delighted to be working with Breast Cancer Now on these workshops.”

This latest collaboration reflects FEL’s / FTA’s commitment to using fashion and textile skills to create positive community impact. By combining creativity, practical learning and important health messages, the workshops aim to provide participants with a memorable and empowering experience.

More details will be announced in due course.
