Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) was delighted to attend a World Mental Health Day celebration organised by Ananda9 Ltd, a registered mental health charity in England, on Friday 9th October 2026. The event brought together Ananda9 members, carers, guest speakers and professionals to recognise the importance of mental health, inclusion and community support.
Representing the Fashion Technology Academy’s (FTA) Leicester branch, Divya Kamath, Operational Manager, joined the celebration with performances by Ananda9 members, guest speakers and a light lunch, creating a welcoming environment for connection, shared experiences and mutual understanding.

The celebration provided a valuable opportunity for the Academy to engage with the wider community and reaffirm its belief that education should support not only professional development but also personal growth, confidence and positive mental wellbeing.
At the FTA we believe that learning is about more than acquiring technical knowledge, developing sewing skills or preparing for a career in the fashion industry. Education also has an important role in helping individuals recognise their potential, develop self-confidence, express their creativity and feel empowered to pursue their aspirations.
A positive learning environment can help individuals build a sense of achievement, independence and belonging. These qualities are important for personal development and can contribute to a greater sense of wellbeing.
The Ananda9 celebration was a reminder of the importance of building communities where people feel heard, valued, respected and supported. The performances by Ananda9 members highlighted the importance of participation and providing opportunities for individuals to share their talents and experiences.
Events of this nature also encourage greater awareness of mental health and help strengthen connections between charities, education providers, carers and other professionals.
For FTA, attending the event was an opportunity to demonstrate that our social responsibility extends beyond education and training. We recognise the value of working alongside organisations that support wellbeing, independence and inclusion, and we welcome opportunities to learn from their experience and contribute to shared community objectives.
We are grateful to Ananda9 Ltd for inviting Divya Kamath to take part in this meaningful celebration and for the opportunity to connect with its members, carers and professional network.
