The Fashion Technology Academy, across all campuses, regularly hold informal ‘Learner’s Voice’ sessions to encourage honest and open feedback. On 31st March 2025, a session was held at the Fashion Hub in Leicester with a cross-section of students from the Stitching, Patterns and Skills Bootcamp courses.
The core aims of Learner’s Voice sessions include:
- To ensure that the learners aims are being met
- To find out if there are areas for improvement
- To confirm progression routes and next steps after the courses
- To provide quality IAG – Information Advice and Guidance for all learners – both Exit and Next Steps
- To ensure that the cross section of learners was a representative of their cohort
Examples of the questions and answers gained from the session…
What went well?
R: Everything – the people, the environment, working with the teachers, and making new friends. I learned new skills that I hadn’t learned before.
B: Before I joined the course, I had no sewing experience, and now I can sew. I like this place; the people and the space are nice.
M: Everyone here is very nice and helpful. The course is good. Before, I didn’t know how to sew, but now I do.
What could be improved?
B: It would be good to have experts from the industry come in to do a session or as guest speakers. I would like to start my own brand, so additional lessons on business or branding would be good.
R: I like the practical part of the course. I’m not keen on doing the written tasks as my English isn’t good.
M: I like the practical side. The written tasks were a bit boring, but they had to be done.
Would you recommend the course?
ALL:100%. Yes, definitely.
What do you need for the next steps?
M: I have a job now from doing Skills Bootcamp.
R: I have an interview tomorrow as a sample machinist.
M: On the waiting list to do L2 and Skills Bootcamp. I am looking for work as my next goal.
Conclusion:
Overall, the students had a fantastic experience at the FTA. They liked the teachers, the course, and the welcoming atmosphere at the Leicester Fashion Hub. They enjoyed their time here and felt supported by the staff and students.
They discovered us through the job centre and had not previously heard of Fashion-Enter Ltd. They would recommend us to their friends and family due to their positive experiences.
Everyone gained new skills that can help them secure employment, and one learner has already secured a job through Skills Bootcamp.
It would be good for the tutors and staff to encourage learners to leave reviews on Google. These reviews could help prospective students make informed decisions about enrolling in the course and raise awareness of our facility. Additionally, guiding students on their next steps and directing them to our newsletter would keep them informed about events and masterclasses that could help them start their own business.
Overall, the teachers at Leicester FTA are doing a fantastic job—the learners are happy, engaged, and have had a great experience. The FTA in Leicester is an excellent place for acquiring new skills and exploring employment opportunities after completing the course.

Additionally, the learners were encouraged leave their reviews on Google and to join our social media pages for the latest information on courses, workshops, employment, events, to connect with others, and more.
