On Thursday 7th August, FTA’s Head of Education, Lan Leeder attended a careers event at Job Centre Plus in Tottenham, North London. The purpose of the event was to discuss the Fashion Technology Academy’s Level 2 Stitching course with potential learners and to select the right candidates for the 8-week programme known as SWAP (Sector-based Work Academy Programme).
The event saw a great turnout, with over 20 candidates showing up, all of whom were very interested in the programme and eager to find work in garment manufacturing upon completing the course.
Lan commented: “The event was a great success, attracting over 20 attendees, many of whom have backgrounds in fashion and are enthusiastic about the course. This is a fantastic start in generating interest for the programme. We are working with Jobcentre Plus to deliver a stitching course that addresses the skill shortages in the industry. The training will offer participants a comprehensive experience that includes pre-employment training, work experience placements, and workshops on interview techniques and CV writing.”
