On Sunday, 15th February, Jenny Holloway and Head of Education Lan Leeder were invited to the vibrant London Terno Ball to see international designer and visiting tutor John Herrera’s designs featured on the catwalk. Designs included his striking Augilia Collection, featuring the iconic sculptural Terno butterfly sleeve, which celebrated Filipino heritage through contemporary craftsmanship. John is proof that technical excellence and creative vision can sit side by side on the catwalk and in the classroom. And having such a skilled designer guiding the next generation of talent at the FTA is something we are immensely proud of.

The event provided an amazing, behind-the-scenes opportunity for the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA)’s previous Level 3 students, stitching tutor Louisa Christodoulou and Pattern tutor Manuela Tavares, who assisted backstage, helping to dress the models and providing support to the designers. Ash, a previous Level 1 and 2 stitching and pattern student, modelled for John.

FTA Head of Education, Lan Leeder said: “John’s collection was breathtaking! The details on the dresses, the craftsmanship, and his designs are amazing. This is also a wonderful opportunity for the students to take part in such a unique event, and one student even modelled on stage. Congratulations to John and well done to all the tutors students involved!”
