FEL Tours and CPPD’s: From Commonwealth Parliamentarians to Employees From Seasalt

It’s been another exciting week, commencing 21st October, at Fashion-Enter Ltd’s HQ in Haringey with seminars and tours.

Caroline Ash and the team were delighted to welcome 20 Commonwealth parliamentarians for a presentation and tour of FEL’s ethical production business model. Organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK, the parliamentarian visit consisted of a 2-hour session that covered core issues such as; ethical and sustainable industry practices to actively collaborating with policymakers.

Split into 2 groups, Caroline Ash gave a tour of FEL’s premises covering:

  • The Factory: Overview of ethical manufacturing practices.
  • The Fashion Studio: Innovative design and production.
  • Repair Centre: Sustainability through repairs and upcycling.
  • Education: Fashion Technology Academy and Apprenticeship programs.
  • Style3D: Demonstration of advanced technology in reducing waste.

While FEL’s Founder and CEO Jenny Holloway gave a presentation on:

  • Ethical and Sustainable Practices: How technology and innovation drive these efforts.
  • Labour Rights and Industry Engagement: The crucial role of the business and investment sectors in upholding labour rights and preventing exploitation.
  • Legislation and Manufacturing: Dispelling myths about the negative impact of legislation on manufacturing and exploring how government policies can support the industry.
  • Engagement with Government: How Fashion-Enter collaborates with policymakers to shape and support new legislation.

The visit rounded off with further discussion and questions and the feedback from the parliamentarians was extremely positive.

The week ended with a CPPD with a group from the brand Seasalt Cornwall. The group was made up of individuals with a diverse range of job roles and experience levels. The seminar was fantastic and covered a lot of material and received excellent feedback. Participants noted that they learned a significant amount of new information in a short time, which they can apply in their respective roles.
