FEL CPD Session on Safeguarding

Fashion-Enter Ltd places a strong emphasis on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure that staff members acquire the most current skills and knowledge essential for delivering an exceptional curriculum. The CPD sessions are designed to be practical and responsive, featuring a regular schedule that provides ongoing support and training for both teachers and technicians.

Throughout the academic year, CPD days are organised, offered both remotely and on-site, to ensure that all staff have opportunities to enhance their teaching practices and remain up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices.

On 21st May 2025, teachers participated in an online safeguarding refresher CPD session led by FEL’s Head of Education, Lan Leader. The purpose of the session was to raise awareness about safeguarding vulnerable adults, clarify legal responsibilities, and outline measures for their protection from harm.

The session covered the following:

– The term safeguarding and its meaning

– Key legislation surrounding safeguarding and their legal responsibilities

– The role of the designated safeguarding lead

– How to identify signs of abuse and the risk factors involved

– How to determine capacity

– How to respond to any concerns about a vulnerable adult

– How to act if information is disclosed to them by a vulnerable adult

– Safeguarding recruitment procedures

– How to report their concerns and the importance of doing so

– How to record their concerns

– Social care roles in the safeguarding process

Feedback from the tutors included: “This course was extremely helpful in understanding ways to identify and provide the knowledge needed to protect a learner and handle situations correctly using the appropriate procedures. The course content and information were highly beneficial.”

“As I have been participating in similar training, I believe it is crucial for the staff to be updated with the latest information. Lan was fantastic! Especially with full answers and questions.”

“As a teacher, I am in a position of trust. I have learned how to recognise, prevent, and appropriately respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. I know how to report any concerns to the lead safeguarding officer, Jenny Holloway. The speaker provided relevant examples and supported and encouraged contributions from the panels. After the training, I grew more confident in dealing with any safeguarding concerns and navigating complex situations while upholding legal and ethical standards.”
