FCFTA Leicester: 2 Day PPE Workwear Repair Training Course

On the 1st and 2nd February, the FCFTA Leicester, in partnership with the Textile Services Association (TSA) held another PPE Workwear Repair Training course. This two-day course enables PPE/workwear quality teams to develop a stable and upskilled group of repairers. Tutor Ana Cover joined the team in Leicester along with TSA representatives to deliver this tailor-made course.

The TSA is the trade association for the textile care services industry representing commercial laundry and textile rental businesses. Membership ranges from family-run operations through to large, multi-national companies. The TSA takes pride in its competent processes, highly optimised sustainable operations and staff training together with strong policies and procedures.

This PPE Workwear Repair Training course covers the main aspects of care and repair, and depending on the condition of the garment and the costs involved knowledge on how to repair these essential work items can support safety and garment longevity.

FEL Deputy CEO Jackie Bertram said: It’s a pleasure to welcome the TSA and some of their members to the FCFTA. This type of practical skills based course is what the FTA excels at. On hand we have 3 experienced tutors, led by Ana Cover, to support the learners throughout – some novices, others more experienced.

“It’s also a pleasure to welcome Caroline Noonan, Product Director from Johnson Workwear to discuss product integrity and explain how to make a decision on repairs. We also have Richard Rigg, General Manager of Thermopatch UK to demonstrate how to heat seal and repair. We look forward to working with TSA again in the future.”

On completion of the course the learners were presented with certificates, feedback included:

“The course covered good points. Very good, and good example with the Thermopatch demonstration.”

“I learned to apply Thermopatch patches and use the baby locker. Very good connection with the team.”

“Tutors and group were really friendly, and atmosphere and facilities were really great.”
