FCFTA has been awarded Direct Claim Status by the Skills and Education Group (SEG) following a successful remote moderation of the Level 1 Award in Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation.
The decision follows a positive recommendation from external moderator Martin Short, who praised the centre’s well-organised submission and its clear understanding of the importance of the qualification for working people at risk of exploitation. Learner feedback was particularly strong, with candidate numbers expected to grow.
As a result, FCFTA can now claim certificates directly for this qualification via SEG’s Online Registration System (ORS) until 20th January 2027, ensuring faster certification for successful learners.

High-Quality Delivery and Learner Impact
The moderation recognised the breadth and quality of evidence provided, including learner work, interviews, feedback, and supporting documentation, all of which were described as fit for purpose.
The qualification is delivered by Divya Kamath, Operations Manager and Tutor at FCFTA’s Leicester branch. Her bilingual support has been instrumental in engaging learners, many of whom have English as a second language. Group-based delivery has helped learners overcome language barriers, encouraging discussion, peer support and inclusive participation.
Reflecting on the course, Divya said: “The content is relevant, timely and clearly linked to real-world contexts. Many of our learners are unemployed or economically inactive, and this course helps them understand how labour exploitation operates across different sectors.”
She also highlighted the personal relevance of the programme, noting how understanding workers’ rights can be transformational for those entering employment in the UK for the first time.
A Credit to the Team
Fashion-Enter Ltd CEO Jenny Holloway welcomed the outcome: “This moderation is a credit to Divya and the Leicester team. In just a few years, Divya has grown into a highly respected Operations Manager and qualified teacher. This achievement reflects the strength of our delivery at FCFTA.”
The award of Direct Claim Status underlines FCFTA’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible education that equips learners with the knowledge and confidence to protect their rights at work.
