Every year we award one of our apprentices, that has gone above and beyond, as our ‘Apprentice of the Year’.
Congratulations to…Iona Hills based at our Welsh campus.
Here we talk to Iona about her apprenticeship so far…
Q Why did you choose the apprentice route?
Iona: “I attended the Level 1 & 2 sewing courses (Newtown, Wales) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, not only improving my sewing skills but also seeing how a factory operates. It seemed the obvious choice as I want to pursue a career in sewing.”
Q What have you enjoyed the most so far?
Iona: “Watching how the experienced machinists sew, getting an understanding how small improvements can have a big impact on your overall performance.”
Q What are your future goals?
Iona: “I really would like to get a full-time job at the factory.”
Q Would you recommend an apprenticeship?
Iona: “Yes, most definitely. It gives you skills but also shows you the bigger picture of how an organisation works.”
