Careers Advice: Islington World of Work

As part of the Islington World of Work event, Lan Leeder, Head of Education at Fashion-Enter Ltd, volunteered at the ‘Meet the Professionals’ workshop at St. Aloysius’ College on Monday, June 23rd. During the workshop, she spoke to a group of Year 10 students about her job and career journey, exploring other options after completing their A-levels or BTECs, such as pursuing an apprenticeship or attending university.

Lan discussed the fashion industry and the various creative roles within it. She shared her career path and offered valuable tips and advice for job applications. This included guidance on writing a CV, gaining work experience, and developing new skills.

Lan Leeder, Head of Education, said: “It was a pleasure to participate in this event, where I had the chance to engage with Year 10 students as they planned their next steps after their A-levels. I discussed what it is like to work in the fashion industry and highlighted various career paths within the creative sector that they may not be familiar with, such as pattern cutting, garment technologist, and merchandising. The discussion was engaging, and the students asked many insightful questions.”
