Ana Cover, FTA / Stitching Academy tutor/assessor, attended Aspire’s 2020 ‘Kick-Start to Apprenticeships’ event on 14th February 2020.
The drop-in Islington council-run events are dedicated to bringing 16-24 year olds into the same room as employers and training providers with current opportunities. The young people are also offered tailored support to help secure an opportunity that suits them.
Ana (pictured right with an Aspire team rep) comments:
“It was lovely to showcase Fashion-Enter’s apprentice programme at Aspire 2020. The event was held at the Highbury Suite at Emirates and there were a variety of providers and it was very well organised.
The event was aimed at the 16+ age group and it is a shame that it was not as busy as expected, however many young people did visit the Fashion-Enter stand and I had some interesting conversations about what they are looking for and what we offer on the fashion and textile apprenticeship programme as well as other courses.
These youngsters were also keen to look around the factory to see the bigger picture of what we do. They were very surprised that our learning facility is set up within a working factory in London making clothes for a company such as ASOS.com.
“All in all, even though it was a quiet event I felt like some of the young people went away with a better idea of the options available and the career pathway that they would like to take.”
