2 New Apprentices Join Fashion – Enter Wales

As of this week, Monday 12th September 2022, Fashion-Enter Ltd Wales have recruited two apprentices to learn and work on the Newtown factory floor. Annabella Lewis, Senior Administrator at Fashion-Enter Wales, comments:

“I have now worked for Fashion-Enter Ltd for nearly two-years and in this time, I have personally learnt so much about manufacturing and quality fashion garment design and manufacturing, but unlike Laura Ashley we have to make decisions and production really quickly. Orders have to have a turnaround time of just 3-4 weeks otherwise there is no point in making in the UK. The advantages to this mean that we are making closer to the season and therefore the product should sell out. Open-to-buy gives retailers flexibility.

“In 2021 we won our first contract with Newtown College to provide stitching skills and this was so exciting and rewarding to see local people who have always wanted to stitch have the opportunity to learn.

We met Emily and Iona during this time and both were dedicated learners working hard with Judith to learn as much information as they could. They really progressed quickly and they also fitted in with the rest of the team too which is always important for any company – we all need team players to work in harmony.

We couldn’t employ Emily and Iona straight away as we were waiting for Newtown college to be able to provide Fashion-Enter Ltd with a training contract for apprenticeships as well as for the Adult Education too. So it is with absolute delight that as of last week we received our contract from Newtown College which meant that we could employ Emily and Iona straight away.

We would all like to say a very special thanks to everyone at the NPTC Group of colleges, especially Nicola Thornton-Scott.”

Apprentice Emily said: I am very excited to start the apprenticeship and putting my new skills to good use.”

Apprentice Iona added: I am looking forward to starting the apprenticeship and learning from the experts.”

Judith, stitching tutor was thrilled with the new apprentices, she said: I am so pleased that Iona and Emily are excited to have an apprenticeship after completing Level 1 & 2 stitching. They demonstrated that they were dedicated learners and really wanted to learn new skills. It was lovely to see how happy they were when they mastered another new skill.”
