On 20th October, Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) Director Caroline Ash welcomed Level 4 Garment Technology students from the Fashion Retail Academy for an educational factory tour and seminar, offering valuable insight into the processes, skills and expertise behind garment production.
The visit provided students with the opportunity to connect their classroom learning with the realities of a working manufacturing environment, gaining first-hand knowledge of factory operations and the wider garment production process.
During the seminar, Caroline covered a broad range of industry topics, tailoring discussions to support an upcoming student project. The session encouraged questions and exploration, allowing students to deepen their understanding of manufacturing while gaining practical insights relevant to their studies and future careers.
Caroline said: “We welcomed the Fashion Retail Academy Level 4 Garment Technology course students for their annual visit to Fashion-Enter. We covered a huge amount of information, with some excellent and far-reaching questions from the group. As they have an upcoming project, we tailored much of the seminar to support their work and provide relevant, practical insights. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging session.”

Feedback from the students demonstrated the value of learning directly from manufacturing professionals and seeing factory processes in action.
One student commented: “I learnt about the behind the scenes processes of a factory. A lot more than I thought goes on. Speaker was very clear and informative.”
Another said: “I gained lots of information and brands / organisations to do further research into. Caroline was incredibly knowledgeable. Thank you.”
Other feedback included: “I learnt loads and loads and I made so many notes,” while another student reflected: “I gained industry experience in garment production and took in a lot of information. Thank you for the seminar I learnt a lot!”
The responses highlight how factory visits can broaden students’ understanding of the industry, introduce them to organisations and resources for further research, and help build the knowledge needed for their future careers.
At Fashion-Enter Ltd, factory tours and educational seminars form an important part of connecting emerging talent with the practical realities of UK garment manufacturing.
