FCFTA Leicester in the Spotlight on BBC Politics East Midlands

The Fashion Technology Academy (FCFTA) in Leicester was in the spotlight as BBC Politics East Midlands visited the Academy to explore the future of UK manufacturing, skills and employment. On 1st October, BBC journalist Dan Martin filmed at the Academy’s facilities, interviewing Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway alongside FTA students. The programme, presented by Peter Saull, aired on 4th October and highlighted the important connection between education, skills development and the future of British manufacturing.

With FTA’s specialist facilities and students providing the backdrop, Jenny spoke about the urgent need to re-industrialise the UK and create the conditions for British manufacturers to grow, invest and employ. The visit also highlighted how the Academy is preparing the next generation with practical, industry-focused skills that can lead directly into employment and manufacturing careers. The students at  FTA Leicester are an important part of this future demonstrating that rebuilding UK manufacturing is not simply about factories and production, but about people, skills, education and opportunity.

The BBC feature also highlighted the initiative bringing 20 UK factories together to create a stronger voice for SMEs seeking Government procurement opportunities. By demonstrating the capability and expertise of UK manufacturers, the initiative aims to help retain production, investment, jobs and skills within the UK.
