On Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July 2026, Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) Administrator Hawi Burka attended a two-day Mental Health First Aider training programme delivered by Minds in Haringey.
The course focused on recognising the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions and responding in a supportive, appropriate and compassionate way. Participants gained a deeper understanding of mental health and wellbeing while developing practical skills to confidently reassure and support individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Reflecting on the training, Hawi said:
“The course equipped me with the knowledge and awareness to support people with mental health. It was a very good training programme with plenty of role-play, Q&A and class activities to engage with one another and to better understand how to support others with mental health. I can now apply what I have learnt at the academy to support our learners.”
By investing in staff development, the Fashion Technology Academy continues to strengthen the support available to learners, ensuring staff have the knowledge and confidence to promote wellbeing and provide appropriate assistance when needed.
