Level 3 Open Day at FTA Islington

On Thursday 16th July, the FC Designer Workspace welcomed prospective 16–18-year-old students and their families to an open day for the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice, ahead of the course beginning in September.

The event gave visitors the opportunity to explore the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) campus in Islington part of the FC Designer Workspace, meet tutors, speak with current and future students, and receive guidance on the application process. Attendees were also able to learn more about the range of creative courses available at FTA before securing their places for the new academic year.

The UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice provide an excellent introduction to the creative industries, giving learners the opportunity to develop practical skills while exploring a broad range of disciplines within art, design, and creative practice. Throughout the course, students build a strong portfolio of work, experiment with different creative processes, and gain an understanding of how ideas are developed from initial concepts through to final outcomes.

Designed by the University of the Arts London Awarding Body, the qualification offers a valuable overview of the creative sector, helping students discover where their interests and strengths lie before progressing to higher education or employment. The course encourages creative thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and professional practice – skills that are highly valued across a wide range of creative careers, including graphic design, illustration, fashion, photography, fine art, digital media, interiors, and product design.

The qualification also provides a strong foundation for progression to university-level study, allowing learners to build confidence, refine their technical abilities, and gain experience working on industry-inspired projects within a supportive and creative learning environment.

Speaking about the event, Lan Leeder said: “It was wonderful to meet prospective learners and their parents to discuss the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice, as well as the other courses at the FTA.”

The open day highlighted FTA’s commitment to supporting the next generation of creative talent, offering prospective students an insight into the learning environment, expert teaching, and opportunities available through the Level 3 Diploma. With places now secured for September, learners will soon begin an exciting journey that equips them with the knowledge, practical experience, and creative confidence to take their next steps within the creative industries.
