Learners’ Voice: Level 2 Stitching Students Share Their Experience at FTA Islington

18th May 2026 students on the Level 2 Stitching course at the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) Islington have been reflecting on their learning journey so far, sharing feedback about the course, tutors, their next steps and supportive environment at the academy.

The learners spoke enthusiastically about their experience, highlighting how much they enjoy both the creative and practical aspects of the programme. One student explained that they “love the course, the people, and the space,” while another shared that the course has helped them feel “more confident” in their skills and abilities.

For students progressing from Level 1, the transition to Level 2 has provided exciting new challenges and opportunities for growth. One learner commented that Level 2 is “more intense and challenging than Level 1,” adding that they have already learned significantly more and are enjoying the experience.

When asked what the academy does well, the response from all three learners was overwhelmingly positive. The students praised the quality of the course, the teaching staff, and the welcoming atmosphere within the learning environment. The supportive nature of the tutors and staff was a consistent theme throughout the feedback, with students feeling encouraged and motivated throughout their studies.

The learners also shared constructive suggestions that could further enhance the student experience for future cohorts. These included clearer workbook layouts, improved terminology within learning materials, and additional session handouts to support garment construction tasks. Students also expressed interest in practising with a wider variety of fabrics to build confidence handling different materials on industrial machines.

Despite these minor suggestions, the overall feedback remained extremely positive, with all learners confirming that they would recommend the course to others interested in developing their fashion and garment production skills.

Looking ahead, the students are already thinking about progression opportunities within the fashion industry. Several learners expressed interest in continuing onto Level 3 courses, particularly in tailoring and pattern cutting, demonstrating both ambition and commitment to developing their technical expertise further.

The feedback reflects the strong learning culture at the Fashion Technology Academy, where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to progress within the fashion industry. With passionate tutors, practical learning opportunities, and a collaborative studio environment, the Level 2 Stitching course continues to help learners build confidence and develop valuable industry-ready skills.
