We are in the final week (7th November 2025) of the “Threads of Elegance: Conserving the Legacy of Beale & Inman Tailors” project. This two-year community initiative features a six-week tailoring and garment construction course, specifically tailored for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA).
The SEN learners have all created one outfit, ready to be showcased at the London College of Fashion in Spring 2026. The students have worked extremely hard over the past six weeks, and the project has been a great success. The tutors have been very encouraging and supportive of the 11 students, which was a great experience as they had never used an industrial machine.

The hands-on activities, demonstrations and encouragement you offered allowed every student to explore their creativity, develop new skills and gain confidence in expressing themselves through fabric and design.
It was wonderful to see how your session connected real industry practice with education, opening students’ eyes to possible career paths in the fashion and textile sector. The professionalism, patience and enthusiasm of your team made a lasting impact on the group — several students left feeling inspired to pursue further creative learning opportunities.
