On 5th August, Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) and the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) welcomed their final tour group of the 24/25 academic year for the Factory Uncovered Seminar and Tour, led by industry expert and FEL Director Caroline Ash.
The session hosted a large group of international Asdan summer school students from China, many of whom had limited English. To bridge the language gap, the tour offered a fully visual and hands-on experience, showcasing each stage of the ethical garment production process—from design to final product.
“We concluded the academic year with one final seminar this week, before resuming in October,” said Caroline. “We hosted a large group of Chinese summer school students who thoroughly enjoyed our technology centre. The visual tour worked perfectly, given the language barrier, and they seemed to really appreciate the experience.”

Feedback from the group included:
“I have learnt about making clothes and what we should pay attention to in the process. The speaker was really great!”
“10 out of 10, I learnt about economies of scale and the benefits.”
“I got to see how to run a clothing factory. Very good!”
This educational visit not only highlighted the importance of ethical and transparent fashion manufacturing, but also demonstrated how visual learning can overcome language barriers and inspire the next generation of global fashion talent.
Factory Uncovered tours will resume in October 2025, continuing to provide invaluable insight into real-time garment production in the UK.
