Vacancy: Silk Studio Sewing Machinist - Apprenticeship
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Sewing Machinist to work as a team member in our Silk Studio. While training and learning the skill of machining, you will also produce prototypes, carry out alterations and create sales samples alongside our production orders.
Responsibilities will include:
Learning and developing skills in constructing and producing various silk garments.
Develop an understanding of processes and terminology to develop own abilities for future progression.
Understand and assist where needed in the cutting process.
Learning and developing knowledge of different fabric types and how to handle and identify right side of fabric.
Understanding internal components and when it is necessary to use them.
Learning the use of various industrial machinery and how to work them correctly to achieve commercial wearable garments.
Learning the correct process of pressing a garment through construction stages to final press.
Organise and maintain your workstation to allow for productivity.
Quality Control: Trimming threads, checking items are to a high standard.
Measuring samples against measurement specs and updating where necessary
To have some basic knowledge and skill in sewing and the enthusiasm to develop themselves further in this field.
To be a team player and work well under pressure.
To use initiative with a good eye for detail.
