Job title: Product Development and Garment Technologist Apprentice

Level 4 Apprenticeship – Product Technologist

Reports to: Head of Product
Directorate: Vintage
Purpose: Assist the Product Team to develop and deliver product into the design specification at the right cost, the right quality, right fit and on time.

Accountabilities Summary: 

  1. Responsible for the day to day administration for the product ranges, including updating the PLM system and range plan and ensuring consistency at all times
  2. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the sample room, including ensuring samples are organised and easy to find and clearing out and sending old samples to warehouse when necessary
  3. Working alongside the Garment Technologists to coordinate fit sessions and measure garments ahead of each meeting as well as take notes during fits when need be
  4. Ensure all technical and product development functions are carried out in line with the critical path
  5. Build and maintain tech packs (Bill of Materials and Garment Specs), ensuring consistency and accuracy at all times

  • Manage wearer trial projects collating all feedback and implementing changes where needed
  • Managing samples that come into the business from proto through to PPS
  • Arrange fit meetings for all proto’s/SMS/PPS; and manage model bookings & costs in line with budget
  • Preparing for the fit sessions with the garment technologists, helping to measure samples as well as issue basic construction comments
  • Attend fit sessions and add fit comments to PLM system where necessary, updating tech packs in a timely manner after fit sessions
  • Attend seasonal Product Handover Evaluation meeting to take notes for the team
  • Ensure production are up to date with any delays in the sealing process
  • Assist the Garment Technologists with garment testing standards for all product categories & communicate to suppliers ensuring all testing costs are incorporated into product costs.
  • Define wash care instructions & advise suppliers and customers via Desl.
  • Updating the PLM system with key garment specifics, ensuring accuracy at all times
  • Ensure key milestones and deadlines are met in line with the seasonal and company critical path
  • Work with PD on sourcing documents for new seasonal developments
  • Ensure all relevant documents are in place and annotated for sign off meetings
  • Creating styles on the PLM system
  • Maintaining all correct information on the Product Range Plan
  • Maintaining product folders – filing lab dips, strike offs, handlooms, bulk fabrics, trims
  • Monitoring sample stages and communicating with the factory to ensure that samples arrive on time and do not arrive late
  • Monitoring all suppliers Okeo Tex certificates ensuring these are kept up to date and requesting new ones be applied for once out of date
  • Updating any customer service spreadsheets that require information on garments eg Wash care, fibre comp etc

 

  • Wearer trial information is acted upon and fed back to the supplier
  • Clear and organised sampling cupboard
  • Adding fit comments to PLM system where necessary, updating tech packs in a timely manner after fit sessions
  • Clear and accurate notes for the team and updating Crib Notes for agents and distributors
  • Testing spreadsheets are always up to date and accurate

  • All product info held in the PLM system is accurate and ready for key milestones in the critical path
  • Regular contact with the supply base to ensure all submissions are running to agreed timelines

 

  • Accurate documents detailing margin etc are ready for sign off meetings
  • Styles are created accurately with all relevant information
  • Range plan is utilised across the business so information must be 100% accurate at all times
