Reporting to: Production Supervisor & Factory Managers

Location: Newtown, Wales

Overall purpose of the job:

To stitch garments as instructed, working with the bundling process as well as the sampling process when required.

Key (Major) Responsibilities:

Stitch fabrics together to construct garments.

Be able to identify the correct machine settings required for different fabrics and styles.

Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies.

Be flexible to stitching different processes on a day-to-day basis.

Follow instructions given from supervisors and factory managers.

Carry out basic maintenance on your machine daily.

Maintain a clean and safe working area.

Inform supervisors immediately of any broken needles/machinery.

Strive to maintain a ‘Right first time’ record.

Other requirements:

To contribute to Quality Control checks and packaging when required.

Wear protective clothing (i.e closed toe shoes) and have hair tied back at all times.

Assisting your manager with all admin tasks, such as:

Updating costing sheets and progress sheets.

Keeping all client boxes inventory updated and organised in alphabetical order with typed name plates.

Maintaining our pattern books in reference to our client files.

When you have proved yourself you will be given individual clients and you will be asked to assist your line manager with client meetings, attend fittings and record information based on your own client lists.

Other Admin Duties:

Client liaison

Stationary cupboard management and ordering of supplies- using our PO system to review competitor prices and to ensure the best rates for the studio.

Logistics- organising couriers and the dropping off of samples occasionally in person along with recording and sending out all posts and parcels.

Logging all deliveries to the studio into the delivery book and client files.

Maintaining our delivery book system and making sure all records are kept of everything going in and out of the studio.

Ordering stationary such as fitting logs and new files.

Thread cupboard and sharing the responsibility of keeping the rest of the factory tidy.

Office clean desks policy.

This role is available on the Level 2 Sewing Machinist apprenticeship standard (12 months long plus 3 months End Point Assessment period).
