Perfect Pattern student Nader reflects on his time on the Perfect Pattern course.

As the end of the current perfect patterns course nears, we spoke to Nader Shaw to find out what he takes away from his time at the Fashion Technology Academy.

“I did not know how to create patterns and so I was interested in learning, which is why I joined the level 1 perfect patterns course.  Having completed this I wanted to progress and also complete the level 2.  I would definitely recommend the course and Alice is a great teacher with a lot of knowledge – she is a great example to learn from!  I only wish there was a level 3 and 4 course as I would love to continue learning!”

Acknowledging that his skills and knowledge within pattern cutting were limited, Nader enrolled on the course taught by tutor Alice in a hope to gain new skills which would provide him with a whole new insight into the industry.

Like other students, Nader was able to learn the basic skills of making a pattern with our 6 week Level 1 course, before progressing onto the more advanced and technical 14-week Level 2 course where he learnt a wide variety of skills.

Now confident in creating lay plans, patterns, garments and taking numerous measurements to then translate into basic blocks, Nader believes his time at the FTA has been extremely insightful.
