Jacqueline Stanica from Barnet in North London found out about the Fashion Technology Academy through her local job centre. After studying Law (LLB) and then teaching(PGCE), Jacqueline decided she wanted to pursue a career in fashion and although she didn’t come from a fashion background, she had always had a strong interest in the industry with aspirations of running her own clothing label. In the past, Jacqueline dabbled in making her own garments but it wasn't until she completed the Stitching Academy Level 1 and 2 followed by Perfect Pattern Cutting Levels 1 and 2 that she gained those vital technical skills, crucial for her end goal to open a small business making and selling clothes online. During both courses Jacqueline learnt a lot of new skills, two that stood out in particular for her was learning how to create professional finishes on garments and learning facts about the properties of materials. Jacqueline also won our Halloween competition for best design and creation.
Overall, Jacqueline was extremely satisfied with her experience at FTA and comments:“The courses that FTA run are life changing and some of the additional sessions give the students access to industry figures who are inspirational to people like myself, who are not really sure how to gain access to the 'fashion industry'”
We are confident Jacqueline’s business will be a huge success and wish her the best of luck!
