Here’s Sonal (below left), Employer Engagement Enterprise Coordinator from Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) promoting work experience.
At FCFTA Leicester were proud to welcome Aoife Stretton (above right in the green cardigan) for a week of work experience. Aoife is a year 10 student at English Martyrs School in Leicester. She spent 4 days at the Academy learning different roles in fashion; from administration, design, patterns and stitching. She even made her own mood board and T-shirt!
Aoife said: “Thank-you for having me for work experience, I really enjoyed it.”
Deputy CEO Jackie Bertram added: “Work experience is a great way for the next generation to understand the workplace and to meet and mix with different people. It’s a great way to try something different and learn from industry experts. As Aoife said – she’d never done a mood board before in textiles – this industry experience will support her if she decides to follow a career in fashion and textiles.”
FCFTA Leicester is open throughout summer – we are able to offer introduction to garment making courses to young people – this is a great way to see if fashion is a career for you. Courses are 1 day £30 or 4 days for £75. To book a place please contact: Divya@fashion-enter.com
