Grading has become a lost art, reduced to a set of instructions applied in a disjointed way. Making the sample size is easy, but retaining that style and fit through all the derived sizes requires more than just a formula. The skilled grader understands the nuances of a style and customises the grade according to need.
This is why we are now offering a two day Pattern Grading for Womensear course with Maggie Stott at the Fashion Technology Academy!
This unique course will introduce manual pattern grading for womanswear and provide the basic skills for application to most styles. The course will cover a bodice, skirt, sleeve and a trouser using a variety of styles to cover the most common grading techniques. It is designed for both the novice and experienced pattern cutter who want to add grading to their skills.
Topics will cover:
- Grading terminology
