At the Fashion Technology Academy we attract a lot of fashion graduates looking to gain practical, stitching, pattern and construction knowledge. Surely this should be a fundamental part of their degree course?
You can’t design in isolation, fashion designers must have pattern, fabric and stitching competency otherwise they’re not going to be industry ready. They also won’t be industry ready if they don’t understand how factories operate and understanding what makes a factory ethical. Look at the latest controversy from the BBC Panorama documentary.
We have had over 6,000 people attend our factory uncovered seminars, mostly from colleges and universities but also from brands, retail and financial institutions.
At Fashion-Enter Ltd / FashionCapital we know we have to evolve, or we go under! We have constantly pivoted into new areas of business but also education and the team are so proud to support the very first cohort on the Level 3 Fashion and Business course. The learner’s on this course have been utterly amazing and have flourished with their acquired knowledge and practical skills.
They’ve designed their own patterns, selected the fabrics, stitched their own t-shirts / tops, created artwork with PhotoShop, organised a shoot, undertaken their own unique business plans and will launch online using individual marketing plans. It’s the real deal!
The 34-week course combines creativity with essential business and marketing know-how culminating in the launch of a printed t-shirt range using Kornit Digital technology.
Next the learners will organise a launch at our shop, the FC Designer Collective, 113-115 Fonthill Road in North London. Most individuals that we teach have the aim to launch their own small brand and this innovative course in partnership with Capital City College Group really prepares entrepreneurs for their own business! It’s does involve a huge amount of knowledge and work but this new course provides a great way forward.
Thanks Capital City College Group for this real opportunity for learner’s. It’s a winner! Thanks Caroline Wilson and Islington Council for the 10 year fashion, circularity programme.
