On Saturday 10th February, Fashion Technology Academy held the final instalment of the four day Production Pattern Making course with pattern cutting expert Maggi Stott. The aim of the course was to educate and equip students with the fundamental skills to bring a first-sample pattern to a manufacturing standard.
During the four day course, Maggie taught students the various methods to use to guarantee the quality standard of pattern making. She covered topics such as; how to make style pattern amendments, understanding the language of notches, consideration of raw materials as well as trims and much more. Overall the course was such a great success, the new dates available for the next Production Pattern Making course will be held on Saturday 10th March, Saturday 17th March and 24th of March 2018.
Here is one of the comments made after the class; “I found it really beneficial…a real eye opener to see from the ‘other side’ of the pond! As we mainly do the design and pattern design here we sometimes do not understand the importance of the simplest things throwing out a pattern! (E.g. A rogue notch) Maggie is so knowledgeable, it’s a real privilege to be able to learn just a little of her skills! I’m really looking forward to week two” Laura
The three day Production Pattern Cutting course costs £195
