NPTC Newtown College in Wales has forged a unique partnership with Fashion-Enter Ltd. The college has formed a unique collaboration with FEL’s Newtown campus whereby the Creative, Visual and Performing Arts department will be putting on a fashion show.
Members of the FEL team attended a NPTC employer engagement session earlier this month (March 2022) and are now planning a fashion show, due to take place later this year. The experience will provide students with the opportunity to design, develop and produce their creative ideas, courtesy of the Kornit Digital printer and FEL’s manufacturing capabilities.
Fashion show aside the NPTC X FEL partnership will provide opportunities for further skills training and work experience. The college is now supporting FEL in its quest to recruit suitable local staff for its factory and is promoting the Level 1 stitching qualification and programme. The company will be delivering the training through its established educational division and will be a sub-contractor to the College which is supporting delivery. It’s also working with the College to develop an apprenticeship programme.
Annabella Lewis from FEL Wales comments:
“I’ve been leading on the education side of the business at FEL Wales and it’s been genuinely fantastic to work with unemployed people to give them new skills. Judith is a fantastic tutor, all the students think the world of her!
“The collaboration with Newtown College is a perfect fit too as we can bring industrial expertise to all the creative students.
“I’m also delighted to confirm that we will be hosting a fashion weekend in Newtown with sponsors Kornit Digital at the of beginning July too – we are really putting fashion on the map in Mid Wales!”
