Nick Beighton CEO Of ASOS And Margot James MP, Minister For Digital And Creative Industries Visit

On Thursday 12th January 2018, we welcomed Margot James, MP and Minister for Digital and Creative Industries as well as CEO of ASOS Nick Beighton to The Fashion Technology Academy.

CEO of Fashion Capital, Fashion Enter and Fashion Technology Academy Jenny Holloway began the visit with an introduction to the three companies. The purpose of the visit was to display the services provided to create an ethically dynamic skilled workforce in the Factory and an effective educative system within the Apprenticeship programme and the award winning courses provided in the Fashion Technology Academy.

Following the introduction, Margot James and Nick Beighton were shown Fashion Enter’s SMETA approved factory and the Fashion Studio. Here, both Margot James and Nick Beighton were shown the different roles within both sectors and the different stages in which both maintain ethical and sustainable garment production. This followed by a tour of the Pattern Cutting room and the revolutionary equipment and software used to provide high quality designs. Lastly, the tour concluded with an introduction to our apprentices and the Fashion Technology Academy students. Students and Apprentices discussed about the training provided at The Fashion Technology Academy and a preview of their portfolios and designs.

Overall, the visit was a success and reiterated the importance on skills development in Fashion and garment manufacturing. It was an honour to have both Minister Margot James and Nick Beighton visit the Fashion Technology Academy
