Newtown College Partners with Fashion – Enter Wales

Fashion-Enter Ltd Wales is pleased to announce a unique partnership with Newtown College, NPTC Group.

Following a meeting in November 2021 with Carys Jones, Art lecturer at Newtown College, Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway and Fashion-Enter Wales Senior Administrator Annabella Lewis, we held a successful visit to the campus.

NPTC Group of Colleges, formed in 2013, consists of four colleges; Afan College, Brecon Beacons College, Neath College and Newtown College, which together with five other campuses, cover over 30% of the landmass of Wales.

Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway commented: “On all of our different sites such as Haringey, Islington, the shop on Fonthill Road, and of course Leicester, we always offer an educational service for technical skills. I am now delighted that we can offer in Wales a Level 1 Stitching Award as a qualification that is free whether you are employed or unemployed.”

Fashion-Enter Wales Senior Administrator Annabella Lewis further commented: “I think it’s fantastic that the machinists from Laura Ashley, that have been together for 35-years, can now pass on these technical skills to a new generation of machinists.”

Newtown has a long established textiles and garment making heritage. Back n the late-1800’s Newtown was known for its woollen industry and in particular its production of quality Welsh flannel. Pryce-Jones was an entrepreneurial pioneer, he sold Welsh flannel to the likes of Royalty and high profile customers and set up the very first mail order service. Latterly Newtown was the production home of the long-established home furnishings and clothing brand Laura Ashley.

The Fashion-Enter team thank Newtown College and Nicola Thornton-Scott, Assistant Principal Skills at Swansea College (part of NPTC Group of Colleges) for their support and look forward to establishing a successful partnership.
